City of Angels

City of Angels is a wildly funny musical comedy set in the glamorous and opulent days of 1940’s Hollywood. The show presents the story of screenwriter Stine and his personal troubles during the writing of a film adaptation of his novel. At the same time, we see the movie itself, in all its film noir glory, played out scene-by-scene as Stine writes it. Stine leads the "Hollywood Cast" as the film's detective hero (and Stone's alter-ego).  Stone leads the "Movie Cast" with many actors crossing over to play multiple parts in both scenarios.

Book by Larry Gelbart
Music by Cy Coleman
Lyrics by David Zippel
