Nanki-Poo,
the son of the Mikado of Japan, has fled to escape marriage to
Katisha.
When he falls in love with a young maiden, Yum-Yum, he learns that
she has been prevented from marrying by her guardian Ko-Ko. Ko-Ko
would like to marry Yum-Yum himself, but he has been condemned to
death for flirting. The events and songs which follow have made this
classic opera a favorite of Gilbert and Sullivan fans for many years.
